Services

Every engagement begins with listening. Here's where the work happens.

Custom Design & Craft

Bespoke analog circuits designed and built from the ground up — effects, utility gear, switching systems, and one-of-a-kind pieces built to your exact vision. Ghost design available for builders who want world-class circuits without the fingerprints.

Vintage Restoration

Careful, informed restoration of vintage amplifiers and gear — with deep respect for originality, historical accuracy, and the character that made these pieces worth saving in the first place.

Modifications & Custom Utility

From targeted tone modifications to custom buffers, switching systems, and utility builds — practical engineering improvements that make your rig more reliable, more musical, and more yours.

Diagnostics & Repair

Systematic, measurement-first diagnosis of hard failures, intermittent faults, noise, hum, and power issues. Every repair is documented. Nothing gets touched before it gets understood.

The Secret Weapon

Unnamed. Unbranded. Unrepeatable.

Some of the best work TWL has ever done doesn't have a name on it — and never will. For the player who wants something nobody else has, built the way nobody else builds it. If you already know you want this, you probably already know how to reach out.

Process

Every engagement is different. Here's how they all begin.

Step 1

Start a Conversation

Tell me what you have, what it's doing, and what you want it to do — whether that's a repair, a restoration, or an idea for something that doesn't exist yet. From there we'll figure out next steps and get your gear on the schedule.

Step 2

Estimate & Approval

Every engagement begins with a diagnostic evaluation fee. I'll get into the gear, understand what's actually happening, and deliver a clear, honest estimate before anything permanent is touched. No surprises.

Step 3

The Work

Once approved, your gear gets the bench time it deserves. Careful, documented, unhurried. When it leaves the lab, you'll know exactly what was done and why.

About

TWL started the way most honest things do. Out of necessity and dissatisfaction.

Around 2005, I was a broke engineering graduate who couldn't afford to chase tone the conventional way. So, I opened up the gear I already had, half expecting to find something sophisticated and perhaps even a bit esoteric.

What I found instead were simple circuits — standard electronics building blocks, often with very real engineering problems, inside products from manufacturers who should have known better. I was simultaneously disappointed and encouraged. This could be done better.

So I started building.

What followed that realization were years of prototypes, test rigs, late nights, and protoboards that occasionally made their way on stage during my gigs — along with bags of extra components to swap between sets. I must've looked like a mad scientist up there. Along the way, I handed many of those prototypes to musician friends, across rigs I didn't own, through amps and guitars I couldn't afford, and listened carefully to what came back.

People started noticing the tone before they even knew what was behind it.

Eventually the commissions started coming in, usually after gigs, when there were no more pedals left on my board to buy right then and there.

TWL has always grown the same way, player to player.

No marketing. No push.
Just tone that spoke for itself.
That hasn't changed.

TWL exists because tone deserves better than mythology.
Not mystique.
Not guesswork.
Understanding.

Engineering truth into tone.
